Cristiano Ronaldo netted three goals for Juventus in the space of four days, which have taken him into the top five on the list of all-time record goalscorers. The 34-year-old netted twice against Parma on Sunday and again against Roma on Wednesday, taking his career tally to 737. So, following his achievement, we’ve decided to take a look at the top 10 goalscorers of all time.
=9. Tulio Maravilha - 575
Brazilian Maravilha is one of two players to have recorded 575 career goals, most of which came at club level in his native country. Surprisingly, the forward only scored 13 times for Brazil in 15 appearances.
=9. Uwe Seeler - 575
Seeler was known for his acrobatic efforts and ariel ability during his 19-year playing career. A Hamburg legend, Seeler scored 575 times in just 649 appearances.
8. Ferenc Deak - 576
Hungarian icon Deak netted 576 goals during his career between 1940-1957, averaging over a goal every game. Deak scored a remarkable 220 times in just 72 appearances for his first club Szentlorinci and continued his free-scoring form for the remainder of his playing days.
7. Lionel Messi - 717
Messi is regarded by many as the best player to ever grace the turf, and he’s not far behind Ronaldo. The Argentine is currently on 717 career goals, and many will be expecting the 32-year-old to net many more before the end of his career.
6. Gerd Muller - 735
Muller is a German hero. Not only did he score the winner in the 1974 World Cup final, but he ended his international career with 68 goals from 62 games. Muller was also a proven club goalscorer and ended his career with 735 efforts to his name.
5. Cristiano Ronaldo - 737
Ronaldo, as mentioned, has now reached 737 career goals and has leapfrogged Muller into fifth. 46 of those have come for Juventus following his move in 2018.
4. Ferenc Puskas - 746
When you have a goalscoring award named after you, it probably means you were pretty handy in front of goal. Puskas was a key member of two of the best teams ever to be seen with Hungary and Real Madrid and ended his career with 746 goals in just 754 games.
3. Pele - 767
Three-time World Cup winner Pele scored 767 times during his glittering 15-year career. Those efforts came in 831 appearances, averaging a goal every 0.92 games.
2. Romario - 772
Another Brazilian hero, Romario went on to eclipse Pele’s national record, ending up with five more career goals to take second place in the all-time rankings. The striker played professionally for 22 years and was six appearances short of reaching 1000.
1. Josef Bican - 802
Topping the charts as the most prolific goalscorer ever to play the game is Bican. Known for his electric pace and ability to score with ease with either foot, he’s the only man to net over 800 times. Bican played professionally for 27 years, eventually retiring in 1955 aged 42.
